Recorded Workshops:
When possible, MTABC workshops are recorded and uploaded here for members to view in their own time. Accompanying documents that were available at the workshop will also be available here by download, and we suggest that you print the documents and refer to them during your viewing. Although this is an MTABC continuing education workshop, MTABC issues CE certificates for those who attend in person.
We will not be issuing CE certificates for anyone viewing the video, as we have no way of verifying a member’s participation. However, viewing these videos still can count for CE credit with CAMT by listing the activity, date and time on your CE form when you renew your membership.
If you encounter difficulties viewing these videos, please contact us immediately at: [email protected]. Please note that there is a 30-60 second delay before the video starts, and you will need appropriate software to view these workshops.

Therapeutic Songwriting as a Trauma-Informed Practice
Presenter: Supriyah Kalathil Crocker, RCC, MTA
Date: May 2nd 2026
Time: 2:00pm-3:00pm
Location: Fernwood Community and Arts Association, Victoria BC
Workshop description:
This hybrid workshop supports music therapists in thinking more clearly about how therapeutic songwriting fits within a trauma-informed care (TIC) framework. Drawing on my master’s research and over a decade of clinical work with people in recovery and those processing childhood trauma, I explore how specific elements of therapeutic songwriting align with each core TIC principle.
We’ll start with a brief, accessible overview of therapeutic songwriting and trauma-informed care, then move into practical insights and applied examples. Participants will leave with shared language, clinical clarity, and concrete ideas they can use to more confidently frame their work as trauma-informed—particularly in recovery and group settings.
Presenter’s Bio:
Supriya Kalathil Crocker is an experienced music therapist, registered clinical counsellor and educator who values clear communication, curiosity, and meaningful engagement. She enjoys making complex ideas more accessible and clinically useful.
