Proposed Wage for Certified Music Therapists
Independent Contractor Rate – $52.50 an hour

Job Summary:
We are currently seeking an empathetic and personable individual, with strong organizational skills to manage and facilitate our long-standing Rhythm & Word Music Therapy program, working directly with students grade 9 to 12 at Mountainside Secondary School.
Rhythm & Word uses music therapy to support the well-being and personal development of students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds and underserved groups (including People of Colour, Indigenous Peoples, 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, and people living with disabilities).
Through individual and group sessions, participants develop key skills such as emotional regulation, accountability, trust, respect, and positive self-expression. Students can learn to play a number of different musical instruments, or learn vocalization, songwriting, and recording within a supportive and inclusive environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This is a temporary contract position, for maternity coverage, taking place over two school terms.
Term 1: March 30, 2026 – June 25, 2026 (13 Weeks)
Term 2: September 14, 2026 – December 18, 2026 (14 Weeks)
The position is an average of 5.5 hours per day, three weekdays per week (16.5 hours total per week)
