Sheila is excited to be back on the Board once again! Her past roles include MTABC Director of Public Relations for two years and Co-Chair of the “Music Therapy and Kids: 10 Big Ideas for Little People” symposium for four years.
Sheila is the Director and Owner of She.Lee.Music, a team of music therapists and teachers passionate about providing counselling, music therapy, and music education. After completing her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from UBC and Bachelor of Music Therapy from Capilano University, her passion for helping others led her to pursue her Master of Arts in Counselling from UVic. She has also completed her Neurologic Music Therapy Certificate and her Level III Certificate in The Bonny Method of Guided Imagery & Music. She is now a Certified Music Therapist and Registered Clinical Counsellor working together with clients of varying ages and abilities to help them achieve their goals. Additionally, she has completed training as a Behavioural Interventionist and has much experience working with neurodiverse children and youth.
Sheila’s music therapy experience includes working with the Delta, Surrey, Burnaby, and Vancouver School Districts, PALS Autism School, BC Children’s Hospital, Sunny Hill Health Centre, Providence Health Care, Richmond Society for Community Living, as well as an internship at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehab Centre in Toronto, ON.
Sheila loves teaching music and has training in music education approaches and methods including Orff, Kodály, Music Together®, and Baby’s First Music™. She is Centre Director of Richmond Music Together, has her Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, takes dance classes and paints whenever she can, and trains as a 4th Dan black belt in Sun Hang Do martial arts.
