What Resources and instruments (including guitar) are on site: Piano, chimes for a chime choir, miscellaneous percussion, rhythm instruments and a few ukuleles for residents to use.
Number of hours per week: 2 sites with 2 to 4 hours per site per week (negotiable)
Number of sessions per week: 2 sites with 2 to 4 sessions per week per site (negotiable)
Wage: $55/hour (negotiable)
Start Date: May 2024 or as soon as position can be filled
Job Summary: The Registered Music Therapist would administer a music therapy program at two long-term care residential facilities in Trail, BC – Columbia View Lodge (CVL) and Poplar Ridge Pavilion (PRP). Sessions would be 2 hours in duration, once or twice weekly. The music therapist would work with 6 residents or less for an hour and then rotate and offer music therapy to the next group of 6 or less residents. Music therapy is mainly offered to residents who are low-functioning, socially isolated or who are unable to function well in larger groups. 76 residents receive care in CVL and 48 residents receive care in PRP with resident ages ranging between 27 and 101 years.
